Graphic Design

In addition to photography, one of my main creative interests is graphic design. With my background in creative marketing, I really enjoy working on designing posters, logos, apparel, email templates, powerpoint templates, business cards, websites, and social media. I primarily work with Adobe Illustrator and Adobe InDesign, but I also create easy-to-use, customized social media templates for businesses and organizations on Canva.

How to Cope When Someone Passes Away (2022)

This project was created as a project for my final undergrad graphic design studio. Based on experience, interviews, grief classes, and other grief resources, I designed a sample booklet that would be a brief guide to dealing with loss. Two of the difficulties people tend to face when using grief resources are the sheer amount of information, and the sad, often upsetting imagery. For my sample booklet, I paired down the information and chose soft, calming imagery.

John Penton Screen Printed Poster (2022)

During my last semester of undergrad, I took a printmaking class and one of the projects was screen printing. We created 11x17” posters with three screen printed layers. I based my design around a vintage photo, used Photoshop to create a pop art layered effect, and then used Illustrator to add text and final touches.

John Penton is a family friend and has been a huge part of the motorcycle community for over 60 years. He founded Penton Motorcycles (now KTM) and was a national champion enduro rider. He’s from Amherst, Ohio and is currently 97 years old. I chose him as the subject of my project to extend my motorcycle poster work from the previous semester, and to honor his legacy in the motorcycle community.

Motorcycle Anatomy Interactive Poster (2021)

Designed for a class during my senior year of undergrad at Ohio University, this poster combined my love of machines with my love of graphic design.

The physical poster is 17x23” and includes magnetic motorcycle parts that can be moved around by the viewer to help them understand some basic elements of a motorcycle, while the bottom section highlights a few different styles of motorcycles.

Ohio University Association of Women in Finance Logo (2021)

This logo was commissioned by the Ohio University Association of Women in Finance. They wanted their logo to combine the iconic ‘Charging Bull’ statue on Wall Street, a New York skyline, and the ‘Fearless Girl’ statue.

The final product included three designs of the logo in the Ohio University Cutler Green, versions in black and white, and a sheet with the typeface and color codes for future reference.

Kaptured by Kali Logo Versions (2021)

I created various versions of my Kaptured by Kali logo for a graphic design class. They were inspired by 50s, 60s, and 70s typefaces and poster designs.

Letters without Borders Project (2021)

During my junior year at Ohio University, our typography class partnered with students from Ghana and India for a collaborative glyph-designing project. We took Cherokee, Adinkra, and Kannada glyphs and created our own versions inspired by combinations of each. I’m pictured with my final glyph in the upper left hand corner.

“Just Brewd” Mock Business Plan (2019)

In the Ohio University College of Business, sophomore business students of all majors take a section of classes referred to as the Integrated Business Cluster. Students are split into teams and complete two main group projects throughout the semester, as well as regular classes. The first group project is focused on researching an assigned industry and predicting which companies are positioned to best succeed in the next few years. The second group project is focused on creating a complete business plan for a new business in the same industry as the first project.

For my team’s project, we decided to create a coffee shop in Raleigh, North Carolina. Since my main focus in undergrad was creative marketing, my portions of the project were focused on designing a logo, website, app, social media, ad campaigns, and the overall branding of our coffee shop. Once our project was finished, we were invited to present our ideas to the founder and other top-level executives of Crimson Cup in Columbus, Ohio.

Featured here is a video walkthrough of the website, as well as photos of the logo, positioning statement, branding, app, and social media. For more information, you can download our final presentation and report using the buttons below.

“Whippet Motorcycles” Mock Business Branding (2019)

Whippet Motorcycles was my first graphic design branding project. This was for one of my graphic design classes, where we were tasked to create a business, as well as design business materials, such as letterhead, business cards, and a sheet with the brand’s typefaces, colors, and sample imagery.
